INKA is a four-member Band from Nairobi, Kenya who have reunited after a hiatus of several years. The Band was formed in 2009. The band includes Vincent Awino on Acoustic Guitar & Vocals; Samuel Mbaluka on Bass Guitar; Adonis Kwata on Drums, percussions & vocals; and Tony Odero on Lead Guitar and Vocals. INKA’s style of Music is rather vast… some call it World music; some say it is a Fusion. INKA’s sound is unique, more like a Cocktail! The Music has an array of influences including Jazz, Benga, Sebene, Kwaito as well as Neo- Soul.
INKA has shared the stage with renowned artistes such as Eric Wainaina, Suzzana Owiyo, Joel Sebunjo(Ug) and Winyo. INKA has also perfomed twice at the Blankets and Wines Festival in Nairobi, Suzzana Owiyo’s The Stage concert, and has recently graced the Bayimba Regional Festival in Jinja, Uganda.
INKA’s debut album in 2014 was dubbed: INKANATION and is currently available in online music stores. Some of INKAs music releases include Hello, an acoustic song that tells the story of the Post-Election Violence that hit Kenya in 2007/08. The song is sung in the perspective of a man who loses his wife in the wake of the skirmishes; Min Paul, a song in praise of the African Woman, produced by Isaac Gem of BILABODA; and Romeo, produced by Jesse Bukindu.
