Roots Connection was formed in 2016 as a homegrown Roots Reggae band based in Nairobi, Kenya. It is composed of Ruzira Lavosti (Lead vocals), Ally Magobenny (Guitar), Albert Bulinga aka Simeon Mellow (Keyboards) and Anthony Muthigani aka Ras Benjy (Bass Guitar | Founder). The band grown since inception and has seen the addition of Jeremiah Mwanza (Drums) and Robin Marcel Moustache (Lead Guitar and Management). The band is well known for electric live performances based off conscious lyricism undertones layered on heavy bass lines, steady drum patterns, and punchy rhythm & lead lines that resonate with the roots rock reggae feel. This sonic mélange is the heart and soul of the Roots Connection sound, you not only hear it, you feel it! We have been influenced by many reggae greats; however, several artists in particular had a profound impact on the band. Some of our musical inspirations include; The Abyssinians, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, Lucky Dube and Buju Banton.
