Suzanna Owiyo was introduced to music at a tender age by her grandfather, who was a prolific Nyatiti player. During her high school years, her talent enabled her to win many trophies for her school during the provincial and national music festivals.In 1998, she joined a Nairobi based singer Sally Oyugi as a backup vocalist and two years later she joined a local band, Bora Bora Sound in Kisumu as a background vocalist.
The award winning artiste has been in the industry for two decades with three albums to her name- Kisumu 100, Yamo Kudho and My Roots. Following the release of her first album, Suzanna was nominated for the “Most Promising Artiste Category” at the Kora Music Awards 2002. She has collaborated with the likes of Oliver Mtukudzi, Yvonne Chaka Chaka and Youssour N’dour whom she toured with in Europe under the “New African Voices Project”
