Born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, Athieno (formerly known as annieSoul), is an artist who has a mission to showcase Africa’s diversity, creativity and intellect through song.

Athieno is a performing vocalist and pianist, a songwriter and producer who has skillfully and creatively blended her musical influences in R&B, Jazz, Funk, Hip-Hop, Gospel and African music into her signature African-infused urban sound.
In 2010, Athieno moved to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music where she met the stellar collection of genre-bending musicians who would feature on her album, “IaM.” While in Boston, Athieno was further exposed to musicians and cultures from around the globe and gained a renewed curiosity about African music traditions. The result is a culturally rich work.

Now a graduate of Berklee College of Music, Athieno recently released her album “IaM.”
